With your help, we can make so many dreams come true.

Each year, millions of dogs in shelters are euthanized—dogs that have the potential to be wonderful companions to families.

Please donate today so we can help as many of these dogs as possible. We can’t do it without your help and support.

Want to become a sponsor for our Handcuffs to Heeling program? Have a dog you’d like to nominate for one of our other Bucket List or Fresh Air Fund program? Contact us today!

Volunteer with Hounds Town Charities

Our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. From caring for dogs with challenging pasts to supporting programs that serve veterans and individuals in need, every role matters. We’re looking for individuals who are committed, respectful, and willing to show up consistently. If you’re ready to be part of a team that believes in second chances — for both dogs and people — we encourage you to complete the application below.

Bridging the Gap

Hounds Town Charities is a nonprofit dedicated to rehabilitating and training abandoned and unwanted dogs — bridging the gap between rescue and adoption.

But at our core, we’re something deeper than that.

We are a place where:

  • misunderstood dogs are given patience instead of labels
  • overlooked animals are given structure instead of confinement
  • and second chances are not just possible — they’re expected

Our Founder

Michael Gould is the founder of Hounds Town Charities and a lifelong canine professional whose work has been shaped by years in law enforcement and hands-on experience with dogs in real-world environments. But at his core, he’s something deeper than that.
He is someone who believes understanding changes everything.

  • misread behavior becomes clarity
  • overlooked dogs become seen
  • and second chances become possible — because someone didn’t walk away

What Makes Us Different

We don’t just house dogs. We work with them.

  • Real pack environments
  • Structured socialization
  • Behavioral rehabilitation
  • Daily interaction that builds confidence

Because many “unadoptable” dogs are simply… misunderstood.

And when given the right environment —

they transform.
